BECOME AN AGAPE VOLUNTEER!

OUR VOLUNTEER PHILOSOPHY

Here at AGAPE of NC, we value our volunteers and are grateful for the time and talents they share with our organization. We are committed to making the volunteer experience one that is fun and that is tailored to your skills, passions and interests.

Our goal is to equip our volunteers to take ownership of their roles, while knowing they can rely on the support of the AGAPE staff for guidance.

Below are volunteer roles we are currently seeking. If you are interested in working with AGAPE of NC, but don't see a role that fits you, please do not hesitate to contact Project Coordinator, Kaye Orander at korander@agapeofnc.org or 919-810-7178 to start a conversation about how you can become a part of AGAPE's mission to serve the children and families of North Carolina.

Please check back regularly as more volunteer opportunities will become available!

BACKPACK MINISTRY AMBASSADOR

Agape of NC Backpacks in Delivery.jpg

AGAPE of NC is seeking Volunteers for the role of BACKPACK MINISTRY AMBASSADOR. We are looking for outgoing, friendly persons who have a valid driver's license and a dependable vehicle! If interested in this volunteer position, please contact Project Coordinator, Kaye Orander at korander@agapeofnc.org or 919-810-7178.

What you would do as a Backpack Ministry Ambassador:

Our Backpack Ministry provides “first night” backpacks, containing a few overnight essentials (like blankets, stuffed animals, coloring/activity books & encouraging notes), for children who are making the transition into a new foster home.

AGAPE is looking for Backpack Ministry Ambassadors who will deliver our backpacks to County Dept. of Social Service offices in their local area (or elsewhere within the State of NC, if willing and needed).

  • Ambassadors will be given contact information for a coordinator at the DSS office to schedule AGAPE backpack deliveries.

  • Ambassadors should expect to deliver about 20 AGAPE backpacks to the DSS office at least twice a year – possibly more frequently if requested by a DSS office.

  • Ambassadors may also have an opportunity to interact with DSS office staff when dropping off AGAPE backpacks. Ambassadors will be equipped to share information & answer simple questions about AGAPE of NC and will know AGAPE Staff & Volunteers to whom they can direct other inquiries.

  • Ambassadors may work individually or as a team with a Co-Ambassador - so ask a friend to volunteer with you!

Interacting with DSS office staff provides an excellent opportunity for our Backpack Ambassadors to become another “friendly face” of AGAPE of NC – representing us to build awareness about AGAPE’s services, to further develop the relationship between AGAPE & the DSS offices, and most importantly, to give comfort to children in need as they are transitioning into new foster homes!

Prayerfully consider this Volunteer opportunity. What a great way to help share AGAPE Love & Care to those in need!

MEDIA CONTENT CONTRIBUTORS

Agape opportunities.jpg

AGAPE of NC is always seeking Volunteers to contribute media content. If interested, please contact Project Coordinator, Kaye Orander at korander@agapeofnc.org or 919-810-7178.

Do you have a Personal Story to tell, Information to offer, or an Announcement to make regarding Foster Care; Adoption; Family Counseling; your AGAPE Work, Volunteer, & Partnering experience, Supporting AGAPE’s mission, and/or a related topic? If so, you hold the key to subject matters we’d love to share in our Social Media posts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and/or publish in our quarterly Newsletter.

What you would do as a Media Content Contributor:

  • Write your own article (300-500 words or less) & submit it to our Project Coordinator; or

  • Contact our Project Coordinator to arrange for an interview with an AGAPE Intern or Staff

member who will write the article. Interviews may be conducted in person, over the phone, or by

    Q&A via email; and

  • Consent to articles being edited by AGAPE as may be needed for consistency, to fit the space

    available, or other publication purposes.

Providing content for our various media outlets, helps to extend our outreach to those in need of AGAPE’s foster care, adoption / post-adoption & family counseling services. It also raises awareness about those needs so AGAPE can receive the resources, and make the contacts, necessary to meet those needs.

Prayerfully consider this Volunteer opportunity. What a great way to help spread the word about AGAPE’s Christian mission and how it positively impacts the lives of children, youth & families across North Carolina!
