AGAPE of NC’s Backpack Ministry is a program where we provide backpacks to children with a few overnight essentials as they transition into new foster homes. Sometimes these children must be moved quickly and have no time to pack; other times, they have little or nothing to pack. AGAPE’s “first response” backpacks provide them with some personal items they can call their own.
AGAPE’s backpacks (with the AGAPE of NC logo on them) also extend efforts made by AGAPE’s Executive Director, Kimberly Scott, to reach out to county DSS (Department of Social Services) offices across the state. Establishing and maintaining relationships with these DSS Offices is important for AGAPE’s Foster Families and the children placed in our care.
AGAPE Volunteers began delivering backpacks last year and, most recently, we delivered 80 backpacks to DSS Offices in 4 Counties. We hope to further expand the program this year.
